Work Hours

The Work Hours tab enables you to display and define the time that work begins and ends for each pattern in a calendar ID. You can also specify shift and non-paid hours. When you update information on this tab, the changes take effect after you use the Generate tab to compute the calendar.

Calendar ID

Identifier of the calendar currently selected in the grid or that you are defining. This field has a list box. The calendar description displays to the right of the ID.

Calendar based on time zone

The time zone this calendar is based on. This field is populated automatically according to the time zone of the application server.

Detail View

The fields in the bottom section of this tab define the work hours in the calendar. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are required. See examples of work hour patterns.

Changes take effect when calendar is computed on the Generate tab

Day of the pattern

Numbered day of the pattern on which the begin and end times apply to the calendar.

When a calendar is generated based on the pattern of work hours you define on this tab, the first occurrence of the first day of the pattern is considered to be a Sunday. If January 1 falls on a Sunday, the first occurrence of the first day of the pattern is January 1. If January 1 does not fall on a Sunday, the first occurrence of the first day of the pattern is considered to be the first Sunday of the year.

Begin time

Two-digit hour (24-hour clock) and 2-digit minute at which the work begins in the Day of the pattern field. If there is no work time for the day, this is 00:00.

For a 24-hour workday, this field specifies 00:00 and the End time field specifies 23:59.

End time

Two-digit hour (24-hour clock) and 2-digit minute at which the work ends on the specified day in the Day of the pattern field. If there is no work, this is 00:00.

For a 24-hour workday, this field specifies 23:59 and the Begin time field specifies 00:00.

For a workday that spans midnight, the value in the End time field is smaller than the value in the Begin time field. End time is interpreted to be on the following day.

Shift hours

Number of paid hours in employee's daily work schedule. This field populates automatically once the Begin time and End time fields have values, but you can change it. Defaults to 0. Must be greater than or equal to zero. Maximum field length is 10 digits, with two digits after the decimal point.

Non-paid hours

Number of unpaid hours in employee's daily work schedule. Defaults to 0. Must be greater than or equal to zero. Maximum field length is 10 digits, with two digits after the decimal point. May not exceed the number of shift hours.
