Registration Fee Classes |
Registration fee classes are assigned to vehicles and equipment units. The Registration Fee Classes screen enables you to define the components of registration fees assessed by the state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Fee classes can be used to apply fee codes for equipment units on the Data -> Equipment Activity -> Special Fees -> Special Fee - Detail screen.
The general fee rules are defined by the specific fee codes assigned to the registration class. If the same general fees are assessed to the equipment unit but the values are different depending on other equipment attributes, the equipment can be assigned to the same registration class. For example, most automobile and commercial equipment units on a similar renewal schedule can be assigned to the same registration class because their specific fees are based on weight or other attributes.
