Renumbering

The Renumbering screen for parts items enables you to change part IDs and suffixes. Part IDs and suffixes in the process of being renumbered may not be used in part location records. When an item is renumbered, the old ID is completely replaced with the new ID throughout the system. When the process is complete, it is as if the old ID never existed.

A two-way cross-reference is created between the old part ID/suffix and the new part ID/suffix if the option to create cross-references between the old and new part ID is active, part status tracking is enabled, and the old part and new part exist for the same suffix.

Part cross-references are defined on the Data -> Parts Items -> Cross-references screen. The option to build a cross-reference between the old and new IDs of a renumbered part is specified on the General tab of the Data -> Parts Items -> Setup -> Options screen. Part status tracking is activated on the Part Status Tracking tab of the Data -> Parts Items -> Setup -> Options screen.

To limit the display of information in the grid and maximize performance, use the filter. You can sort on work order location ID/year/number, job status, part ID/suffix, and reference order ID, among other values. If you specify a cross-reference part ID and the system cannot find it, it searches for and displays the applicable system part ID.
