Part Merge

The Part Merge screen enables you to merge parts. To merge a part means to convert the stock of one part to the stock of another, combine the historical movement data for the two parts, and continue to collect historical data for the two parts in the history of the surviving part. The merge process combines quantities and values on hand, quantities and values on order, historical movement data (e.g., lead time, monthly totals of quantity, value ordered), equipment types used on, vendor contract part prices, and vendor/part information.

After the information from the two part IDs is combined, all information about the non-surviving part ID is deleted. It is as if the old ID never existed and was always part of the surviving ID.

Perform a merge only when you are certain that all history does in fact belong to the surviving ID. If it does not, then there are probably other procedures you can follow as an alternative, such as inactivating the old ID so that it can no longer be used. Part merges are permanent and cannot be undone.

You cannot two merge parts if the pricing method or lot tracking method is different.
