Test Elements

The Test Elements screen enables you to define elements to include in specific types of tests and associate symptoms with test elements. To build a test type, you must first decide which questions or measurements the test will track.

Test elements include measurements to be taken and items to be checked. For example, a smog test may include several elements, such as a test for carbon monoxide (CO), nitrous oxide (NO), or tests for other chemicals. Each element can have different rules for threshold values for numeric entries and the type of entry required. Some elements may require a result (PASS/FAIL), while others may require numeric readings. The elements included in each test type are specified on the Data -> Equipment Activity -> Testing -> Setup -> Test Types screen. The flags that specify allowable entries determine which fields are available for entry using the test results functionality in MobileFocus and Web Modules.

If the results for a numeric reading are outside of its defined thresholds, FA automatically marks the element with a result of FAIL. If the failed element has a task ID associated with it on the test type, FA generates a service request. If the element is also noted on the test type as safety-related, FA generates a work order and assigns the generated service request to it so that the issue may be resolved.
