The following are common questions about automated fuel systems. Scan this list before you call Technical Support—you might save yourself a phone call!
The software accepts fuel entries through the automated fuel interface even if the meter reading in the transaction is outside of the meter edit range defined on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class -> Primary Information screen. A printout of the Accepted Transaction Report shows that the software accepted the transactions, but that the equipment meter readings were out of range.
You can also manually enter the correct meter reading on the Meter Info tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen.
If the software does not support your fuel system, use the Data -> Equipment Activity -> Fueling -> Setup -> Automated Fuel Systems screen to define its interface. If you need assistance with this, or if the interface has special requirement that the software does not support, contact Technical Support.
The Data -> Equipment Activity -> Fueling -> Automated Fuel Systems screen displays the systems the software supports. If there is no entry in the software for the fuel system that you use, you can create one (see Un-supported fuel systems).
If you want to upload information from a fuel system, but the Fuel system ID field on the Setup tab of the Automated Fuel Tickets screen does not display the system in its list box, make sure that there is a check for the system in the System Available field on the Fuel System Description tab of the Automated Fuel Systems screen. If you do not have the authority to do this, contact your system administrator.
The price source for automated fuel transactions is specified on the Processing Rules-Fuel and Processing Rules-Fluids tabs on the Data -> Equipment Activity -> Fueling -> Setup -> Automated Fuel Systems screen.
There are three pricing options:
FUEL TANK LOOKUP: The fuel system identifies the source through pump, pump and site, or tank ID information, and specifies that this application use the current price associated with the tank. Select this option if you use this asset management system to manage inventories. To specify which fuel tank is associated with each fuel pump, use the Data -> Fuel/Fluid Tanks -> Pumps screen.
FUEL TYPE LOOKUP: The fuel system identifies the fuel type on the transaction and specifies that this asset management system use the current price associated with the fuel type. Select this option if you do not use this system to manage inventories. To identify which file contains fuel transactions to load into the database, use the Setup tab on the Data -> Equipment Activity -> Fueling -> Automated Fuel Tickets screen.
TRANSACTION: The fuel system identifies the fuel total cost that this asset management system should use as the transaction cost. Select this option if you want the fuel system to specify the fuel price or fuel unit price. See systems that provide fuel price data.
