How to test an Intermec printer for a Windows 95 print server or workstation

Step 1.   Place the supplied Intermec test disk into the diskette drive of the attached print server or workstation.

Step 2.  At a command prompt, enter: MODE COM1:96,E,7,1,P

Step 3.  The following message appears on the screen: Resident portion of MODE loaded COM1:  9600,e,7,1,p

Step 4.   Make sure the printer is plugged in and turned on, the cables are securely connected, and the printer is loaded with labels and ribbon.

Step 5.   At a command prompt, enter COPY <diskette drive>:PRINTEST.PRN  COM1:, e.g., COPY A:PRINTEST.PRN COM1:

Step 6.  The Intermec label printer prints a test label. If it does not, re-enter the MODE command in Step 2, using COM2: instead of COM1 and repeat Step 5. If the printer still does not print the label, you may need to try COM3: or COM4:.

Step 7.  Verify that the Data -> System Management -> Printers -> Label Printer Types screen defines the type of printer.

Step 8.  Verify that the Data -> System Management -> Setup -> Printers -> Printer Devices/Queues screen defines the printer device/queue.
