Printer Devices/Queues


The Printer Devices/Queues screen enables you to define the printers that you use.

Before you can define a printer, you must define the type of printer on the System Management -> Setup -> Printers -> Standard Printer Types or Label Printer Types screen.

Detail View Header

The field in the top section of this tab defines the data that displays.

Printer ID

Identifier of the printer currently selected in the grid or that you are defining. This field has a list box. If the printer is already defined, its description displays to the right of the ID.

Refer to the printer definition notes for label printers and multi-user environments.

Detail View

The data fields in the bottom section of this tab define the printers. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are required.

Description

Description of the printer in the Printer ID field.

Printer type

The type of printer. This field has a list box.  Printer types are defined on the System Management -> Setup -> Printers -> Standard Printer Types and Label Printer Types screens.

Label or standard

Type of printer (LABEL or STANDARD). This field is display only.

Device/queue name

Name of the printer device or queue. If it is a network printer, this field must include the complete network path. Maximum field length is 100 characters.

Send output to client station

If this field has a check, the printed output is routed to the user’s workstation. Users can then display it on the screen or use your operating software's print management functions to route it to a printer.

The disk file for the application server's file system must be specified in the Device/queue name field.

For messages only

If this field has a check, the printer is used for automatic message printing.
