Procedures

The Procedures tab enables you to enter task procedure text by class and specify test types on work orders. The text is printed on the work order for the class and task. If a task is on a work order, you can specify a list of tests to be performed and recorded, by class/task, before the work order may be closed. This applies to tasks other than PM or inspection services that require tests to be performed or checklists to be verified.

You can associate the test type based on any class purpose, and mark whether the test is required. When the task is added to a work order for an equipment unit in that class, a blank test result is automatically generated for the test type and associated with the work order. If the test is marked as REQUIRED, the work order may not be closed until the test result is recorded. For example, if tire tread depths are to be recorded with every PM service, create a different test type for each class (i.e., one for each tire count) and link it to that service. The PM service can then not be completed until a tread depth reading is entered.

Detail Header

The fields in the top section of this tab define the data that displays.

Equipment class ID

Identifier of the equipment class for resources (assigned to equipment units on the Classes tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Fleet Equipment screen). This field has a list box. The class name displays to the right of the ID.

Equipment classes are defined on the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class -> Primary Information screen.

Task or standard ID

Identifier of the single repair task, repair group, or PM service on which to base the standard. This field has a list box. The following choices are appropriate for parts required:

The description displays to the right of the ID.

Detail View

Data in the field in the bottom section of this tab defines test type and procedure information about the task.

Test type ID

Identifier of the type of test. This field has a list box. The test description displays to the right of the field. When a PM is entered on a work order, this ID will display in the list of test type IDs. This only displays if the test type ID is also entered on the PM Tasks tab as the Test Type ID as well.

Test types on work orders Group Data Table

The Test types on work orders screen group enables you to specify that test results be automatically created when the specified task is added to a work order for an equipment unit with the specified class. The tests must be performed and recorded, by class/task, before the work order may be closed. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are optional.

Task procedure information for this class

Information in this field is a detailed procedure or description of the task. This field is optional.

The procedures are printed on the repair and preventive maintenance (PM) work orders for use in the shop. You can also use these procedures to generate data entry forms to record data during the repair or PM work.

The procedure text on printed work orders is formatted as a continuous stream of characters, broken into lines between words. The printed version does not correspond to the text lines that display on the screen because the screen uses a proportional (variable width) font and the printer uses a monospace (fixed width) font.

To ensure that the printed version corresponds to the text lines on the screen, type no more than 60 characters (including spaces) on a line and press Enter at the end of each line of text.
