Life Cycle Status Codes


The Life Cycle Status Codes screen enables you to display and define life-cycle status codes. The codes track the status of fleet equipment, rail equipment, stationary equipment, components, and linear assets through their entire life cycles, from ordering to disposition.

Life-cycle status codes are assigned to equipment and components on the Status tab of the applicable screen.

Detail View Header

The fields in the top section of this tab define the data that displays.

Life-cycle status code ID

Identifier of the life-cycle status code currently selected in the grid or that you are defining. This field has a list box. If the ID already exists, its description displays to the right of the ID.

Detail View

Data in the fields in the bottom section of this tab define the life-cycle status code information. Unless otherwise indicated, these fields are required.

Description

Free-form text field in which to type a description of the status code. The maximum field length is 30 characters. This field is optional.

Status category

Status category of the life-cycle status code. This field assigns a general definition to the life-cycle status code and permits several specific codes to share the same general meaning. The following categories, among others, are appropriate:

Category description

Text field in which you may enter a different life-cycle status for special fee batches (used in conjunction with the Actions tab on the Data -> Equipment Activity -> Special Fees -> Fee Batches screen).

Status denotes that unit is active

If this field has a check, the units assigned to this life-cycle status code are active (in usual service). An active status is required to charge monthly costs during end-of-month processing (refer to the System Mgmt -> End of Period screen).
