PM Task/PM Service Tip

Before you can enter PM service and PM task data into the system, you must perform the following steps:

Step 1.   On the Basic Info tab of the Data -> Shop Activity -> Setup -> Tasks screen, prepare a complete list of the PM services (A, B, C, etc.) to provide for each equipment class. The system predefines these service letters. It does not require that you use all of the service letters (A-Z) available. Define an A service for each class so that it represents the least complicated PM service that you perform. Then define progressively more complicated services.

You can also change any of these service letters from a PM SERVICE to an INSPECTION.

Step 2.   Prepare a list of the PM tasks (such as 100, 101, 102, 103, etc) to include in each PM service for each class (a separate list for each class). You can use the same PM task code in any/all of the classes and within more than one PM service within a single class. Define all of these PM tasks to the system on the PM Tasks tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class -> Class/Task Information screen.

Step 3.   For each class, prepare a separate single list of all PM tasks to perform in any PM service on units in the class. On the PM Tasks tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class -> Class/Task Information screen, assign the letter of each PM service which is to include that task to each PM task.

After you complete step 3 you can use the PM Tasks tab of the Data -> Equipment Units -> Setup -> Equipment Class -> Class/Task Information screen to enter the specifications into the system. The end result is a series of PM schedules with assigned tasks.
