How to use Administrator mode to set control rights

Administrator mode is available only if you are assigned to a user group that has a check in the System administrator rights field on the Special Rights tab of System Mgmt -> Setup -> Access Rights -> User Groups screen.

When you access a screen in this mode, the Modify UI (User Interface) Information button in the toolbar is active, which enables you to grant access rights, modify the user interface, and set control rights to the screen, directly on the screen itself. Effective with Release 13.1, control rights for user groups may be set on the Rail Equipment and Stationary Equipment screens.

To set control rights:

Step 1.   Open the screen on which you want to specify access rights.

Step 2.   Click the down arrow next to the button and select Set User Group Control Rights Template.

The UI Admin Session dialog box appears.

Step 3.   In the User Group Control Rights Template field, specify the ID of the user group to which the user interface functionality will apply. This field has a list box.

Step 4.   Click OK.

The next time that members of the specified user group access the screen, control rights are in effect for the current session only.

Step 5.   To activate Administrator mode, click the button.

Step 6.   Right-click one of the fields on the screen (or its label).

A shortcut menu appears.

Step 7.   To change control rights, select Modify Rights.

The Control Rights dialog box appears.

Step 8.   Insert or remove checks in the Deny View or Deny Update fields to specify whether users assigned to the user group can display and/or update the control.

Step 9.   Click OK.

Control rights are in effect the next time that members of the specified user group access the screen.

Step 10. To exit Administrator mode, click the Stop button .

Step 11.  Exit the screen.
