How to add a multiple control zoom button


Multiple control zoom buttons enable you to use the values from multiple fields on one screen to locate a specific record on another screen. For example, you could use the multiple control zoom button on the Work Assignment screen to pass the work order location, year, and number to the Work Order Center screen to access a specific record. You can also use them to zoom in on elements that are composed of more than one value, such as work orders, which comprise three controls, or part IDs, which comprise two controls.

To add a multiple control zoom button:

Step 1.   Access the system screen on which you want to add a zoom button.

Step 2.   To activate Administrator mode, click the Modify UI Information button .

Step 3.   Right-click any control (field) on the screen (or its label).

A shortcut menu appears.

Step 4.   Select Modify UI.

The Control Detail dialog box appears.

Step 5.   Place a check in the Add/Modify Multiple Control Zoom Button field.

Step 6.  Click OK.

The Multiple Control Zoom Button Detail screen appears.

Step 7.   To activate the button, place a check in the Enable button field.

Step 8.   In the Enter Number of Zoom Control fields, type the number of fields on which to filter the data on the target screen. Two or three is the standard.

Step 9.   Click OK.

The Multiple Control Zoom Button Detail screen appears.

Step 10. In the Source Window Id field, type the identifier of the window that will provide a value for the filter.   

Step 11. In the Source Control Id field, type the identifier of the field that will provide a value for the filter.

Step 12. In the Target Screen Id field, type the identifier of the screen that should display when the zoom button is clicked.

Step 13. In the Target Window Id field, type the identifier of the window that should display when the zoom button is clicked.

Step 14. In the Target Control Id field, type the identifier of the control that should display when the zoom button is clicked.

Step 15. Click OK.

Step 16. Repeat steps 10–15 for each set of zoom controls.

Step 17. To exit Administrator mode, click the Stop button .
